Green Attraction — Transnational Municipal Climate Networks and Green City Branding
This publication by Henner Busch from LUCSUS and Stefan Anderberg from Linköping University examines how German cities use their membership in transnational municipal climate networks for green city branding purposes. The article builds on a survey with 136 German cities, field visits, interviews and an analysis of more than 150 homepages. Henner and Stefan find that either German cities do not engage in green city branding activities or that they do a terrible job at it. They conclude that research in the field of green city branding has to carefully consider the actual motivation and intentions of cities’ communication of local climate policies.
